About Me
Kristen Barrett
Business Management & Accounting Instructor

I was born and raised in Bennington, Vermont, and I’m proud to teach in the community I’ve always called home. As the Business Management and Accounting instructor at Southwest Tech, I enjoy helping students develop practical business skills and prepare for future success in college, careers, and beyond. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) and obtained my Vermont teaching license in 2023.
Before becoming a teacher, I worked in accounting, finance, loan administration, office management, and also owned my own small business. These experiences allow me to bring real-world insight into the classroom and connect what we learn to everyday business situations.
In addition to teaching, I serve as the FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) advisor and stay actively involved at our adjoining sending school, where I coach high school basketball, softball and advise the yearbook.
When I’m not at school, I love spending time with my family—my son Connor, daughter Mattison, and fiancé John. I enjoy spending time outdoors hiking, fishing, hunting, and riding side-by-sides, relaxing on the coast of Maine, working on projects around the house, or exploring my passion for photography.
