Forestry & Heavy Equipment
This popular two-year program introduces students to forest science & safe operation of chainsaws & heavy equipment. First year students learn safe operation & maintenance of the program's chainsaws, backhoe/loader, bulldozer, sawmill, trailers & dump trucks. Some of the forestry skills students acquire include; identification of trees & forest pests, wood volumes, surveying, forest management, soil, water & wildlife conservation. Second year students build on their skills & knowledge & apply them in community & class projects. These focus on the development of students' planning, supervision & teamwork skills. Second year students will also be introduced to forest management & planning, arboriculture, basic welding, & timber harvesting. They may also obtain their Commercial Driver's License (CDL).Program Instructor:

Adults are welcome to apply for daytime technical programs. A Vermont resident adult without a high school diploma is a secondary student and is eligible for tuition to be paid by their school district. Adults with high school diplomas will be charged a tuition. Financial aid may be available. Contact the Adult Education Office at 447-3596.
